The information in this post has been updated for 2024.
D.Va’s moniker has been appended to the extensive index of Overwatch 2 heroes plagued by bugs in season three, but this time it’s an unintended upgrade to her ultimate ability.
The hero’s ultimate is supposed to harm adversaries only in the line of sight of the explosion, but this novel glitch removes that safeguard—whenever the formidable bug triggers, the blast radius of the ultimate expands beyond walls and barriers too. The inadvertent upgrade is so potent that it’s currently singlehandedly securing victories for D.Va players.
The most recent occurrence of the bug was spotted on February 27th, with one hapless gamer (who proclaimed that OW2 is now a “mess”) recording the issue. In the clip, a helpless Torbjörn is caught behind a wall and killed despite being outside the usual range of the explosion.
It’s certainly an exasperating bug for anyone facing off against D.Va in season three, but most Overwatch 2 players assert that it doesn’t occur every time…yet.
One potential reason for the problem could be several adjustments to D.Va in the recent February 7th update, where the base health of her mech was lowered from 350 to 200. It’s plausible that a nasty issue crept into her Tokki code at the same time.
The D.VA bug is far from the only flaw that has appeared in Blizzard’s hero shooter recently, and she’s not even the only tank affected: Orisa currently has a bugged ultimate that ruins her javelin attacks, Roadhog’s glitch makes his healing abilities redundant if he’s killed in the split-second before using his ultimate, and Sigma’s passive ability has vanished completely in Overwatch 2 at present.
Unfortunately, bugs continue to crop up in Overwatch 2 season three; hopefully, the Blizzard developers are working hard to get them under control.
