The information in this post has been updated for 2024.
League of Legends will soon reach its 15th anniversary in October 2024. As one of the early pioneers of the MOBA genre, the game has seen numerous champions receive visual and animation updates over the years. However, there is one champion that continues to be overlooked by Riot Games when it comes to updates.
Jax, who was released in 2009, remains the only champion who has not received any significant visual or animation update since his debut. Despite being a popular and iconic character, Jax has managed to evade all attempts by Riot to update his appearance. Fans have noticed that he even dodged the 2017 animation update, the 2019 VFX update, and the recent Patch 13.1 mid-scope update.
While Riot has announced plans to update champions such as Teemo and Lee Sin in upcoming ASU updates, there has been no mention of Jax receiving any updates. This has left many fans wondering if Jax will ever get a long-awaited visual update.
Although Jax did receive some gameplay updates in Patch 13.1, this did not include any significant changes to his appearance. It seems highly unlikely that he will receive a full visual update before 2024, based on Riot’s plans for the future. This means Jax will continue to wield his trusty lamppost as he jumps into battle for the time being.
